The bogeymen are a category of imaginary beings, created by popular imagination, for the sole purpose of intimidating, above all, children who are not too obedient. For this reason, they did not always have a well-defined and univocal form, but they followed the inspiration of the moment, of their creator; there is only the name and the fear it evoked.
Sometimes instead there is a story behind tied to a particular place and the fear that the scene is repeated again in your passage.
